A: We’re experts in cancer and nutrition, but we don’t replace the rest of your care team.
We provide medical and scientific information from peer reviewed journals and respected medical organizations. This isn’t the same as medical advice, so you should rely on advice from your health care team to decide on treatment. You should let your health care team know if you’re following a special diet.

Q: Is Savor Health associated with Amazon?

Q: What is a Savor Health gift certificate?
A: A Savor Health gift certificate is a way to give Savor Health meals, subscription or nutrition counseling services to someone you care about.
With our gift certificate, there is no waiting for your gift to be shipped or worry about a lost card. Instead, your loved one will receive an email with a link to redeem their gift certificate and a unique gift coupon code.
To claim their gift, they simply use the unique gift coupon code when checking out.
Q: How do I send a gift certificate?
A: When purchasing a gift certificate, be sure to provide the name and email address of the person you’d like to send the gift certificate to.
When checking out, you’ll see this box:
If you’d like to send your gift certificate to someone else, select “gift coupons to someone else” and complete the fields that appear:
The message you write here will be sent to the recipient, along with their gift certificate code.
Q: How do I redeem a gift certificate?
A: If you’re logged in to your Savor Health account, you should see the gift certificate coupon in your shopping cart. Simply click on the coupon and it will be reflected in your total.
If you don’t see the coupon in your cart, don’t worry! Just enter the gift coupon code before you check out.
Q: Are gift certificates refundable?
A: No. We are unable to provide refunds on gift certificate balances.
If you are unable to use the balance on any Savor Health gift certificate for any reason, you may transfer the balance to another person or donate your balance to someone in need.

Q: Can I apply a discount or coupon code to the purchase of a Savor Health gift certificate?
A: No. Coupons and discounts cannot be applied to gift certificate purchases. If meals or counseling services are included in your order, the coupon value will apply only to those items.
Q: Do you charge sales tax on gift certificate?
A: No. Sales tax will not be applied to gift certificate purchases. If meals are included in your order, tax will apply only to the meals.
Q: Do I need to use my gift certificate value in one order?
A: No, we’ll keep track of your available balance automatically. You can make as many purchases as you’d like until the value is used up.
Q: Can I check my Savor Health gift certificate balance?
A: You can view your gift certificate balance in the shopping cart. If you don’t see it, make sure you’re logged in.
Q: Is there a limit on the value of a Savor Health gift certificate?
A: No, there is no limit.
Q: Where do you deliver prepared meals to?
A: We deliver meals to the continental United States.
Q: Do you accommodate any special dietary restrictions?
A: We offer meals and programs to accommodate diets that are vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, dairy-free, soy-free, or shellfish-free.
Unfortunately, if you are very sensitive we cannot guaranteed against cross contamination in a shared kitchen.
Q: Are prepared meals safe for me if I have diabetes?
A: All Savor Health home delivered meals are consistent with American Diabetes Association guidelines.
Q: Is meal delivery right for me?
A: We’re happy to answer your questions in a free consultation.
Meal delivery isn’t right for you if you:
- have been told by a doctor to follow a sodium restricted diet of less than 2500 mg sodium daily, or
- currently have any of the following medical conditions:
- acute renal failure,
- bone marrow transplant less than 100 days from today,
- chronic renal insufficiency,
- end stage kidney disease,
- end stage liver disease,
- gastrectomy (stomach removed),
- gastric bypass surgery less than 365 days from today,
- HIV+/AIDS, or
Our oncology dietitians can still provide you with support in choosing and preparing meals to meet your specific needs.
Q: How often do you deliver?
A: We deliver your fresh organic meals once per week, generally on Friday.
Q: Are the meals frozen?
A: No! Our meals are made to order from scratch each week, packaged, shipped and delivered fresh to your door, never frozen, and ready to eat.
Q: Do the meals really stay fresh?
A: Yes! We guarantee that your meals will stay fresh for the whole delivery week (i.e., 7 days after the normal delivery date – Friday to Friday), provided you follow our simple handling instructions once your meals are delivered.
Q: How do they stay fresh?
A: Each meal is individually packaged and sealed for freshness in a BPA-free container that is recyclable and both oven and microwave safe. The oxygen is removed from the meal containers, and your individually sealed meals are delivered in one of our insulated cooler boxes with ice gel packs for shipping.
Using our proprietary method, our cooler boxes have been tested to stay cold, but not freeze, for up to 36 hours in extreme shipping conditions. We ship our meals overnight via FedEx, so you receive your meals fresh, not frozen, and ready to eat.
Q: Can I freeze my meals?
A: Although our meals are delivered fresh and taste best when eaten fresh, cooked meals may be frozen and enjoyed at a later date.
Meals that contain raw fruits and vegetables should be enjoyed fresh and should not be frozen.
If you do decide to freeze a cooked meal, we recommend you thaw it slowly in the refrigerator before heating.
Remember, for all foods (not just ours), never refreeze food that was frozen and then thawed.
Q: How do I reheat my meals?
A: Remove lid and plastic container seal (peel or cut).
Place container in microwave and heat to desired temperature. We recommend heating on High, starting at 45 to 60 seconds for lighter items (e.g., breakfasts, omelets, quiches, breakfast burritos, fish and other light dinner entrees, small sides), and 60-90 seconds for heartier items (e.g., hearty dinner entrees, steaks, stews, large sides).
Start with the recommended time, and add 20-30 seconds as necessary to heat until desired temperature is reached.
Q: If I make an appointment, does it adjust for my time zone?
A: We are unable to automatically detect and adjust for your time zone. All of our appointment times are listed in Eastern Standard Time, as our headquarters is based in New York.
Q: Once I schedule an appointment, how do I actually reach my dietitian?
A: We conduct nutrition consultations either over the phone or in a video chat using Google Hangouts.
When you schedule your appointment, you’ll be asked to choose one of these options.
Q: How do I use Google Hangouts?
A: Google has great instructions for how to use Hangouts. Here are the highlights:

If you use Google Calendar, just accept our appointment invitation and join the video call when the time comes.

Q: Do I need a Google account?
A: Nope. You’ll get an email with a link to join the video call. Clicking the link or copying it into your browser will allow you to join the video call without having to sign in.
